Marine Electrical & Automation Services — UK, Ireland & Europe
Ashmit Engineering provides comprehensive marine electrical and automation services to commercial vessel operators, shipyards, offshore units and port facilities across the UK, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Europe. Our engineers are experienced across the full spectrum of marine control systems — from bridge automation and propulsion controls to power management, alarm systems and emergency breakdown response.
Whether you need a marine electrician for a rapid repair, a PLC programmer for a vessel automation upgrade, or an engineering team to deliver a full FAT/SAT commissioning programme, Ashmit Engineering provides the technical depth and operational flexibility to get the job done safely and on schedule.
We are vendor-neutral and work across all major automation and control platforms, giving our clients independent, practical advice rather than brand-tied recommendations. From dry dock projects to live vessel callouts, our teams are equipped for the marine environment.

Marine Engineering Services
We cover the complete lifecycle of marine electrical and automation systems — from initial design and new-build commissioning through to in-service maintenance, emergency repairs and system upgrades. Our marine engineer teams are deployable to UK ports, dry docks, offshore platforms and European ports at short notice.
Our Marine Engineering Process
Every engagement — from a single emergency callout to a full vessel refit — follows the same disciplined engineering process. No shortcuts on safety, documentation or testing.
Marine Emergency Breakdown Support
When a vessel control system fails in port or at sea, every hour of delay has a direct cost. Ashmit Engineering provides 24/7 marine emergency breakdown support to vessel operators across UK ports, Northern Ireland, Ireland and European ports. Our rapid-response engineers carry field test equipment, spare components and diagnostic tools to get systems back online at minimum dwell time.
We coordinate directly with port authorities, ship managers and classification society surveyors where required. Services cover marine electrical faults, PLC failures, propulsion control faults, alarm system outages, generator breakdowns and hydraulic emergencies. Same-day response is available for vessels at major UK ports.
Industrial breakdown support — for factory and manufacturing sites — covers the UK, Northern Ireland and Ireland with equally rapid deployment.
Report an EmergencyCPP, Propulsion & Engine Control Systems
Controllable pitch propeller (CPP) and propulsion control systems are among the most technically demanding areas of marine automation. Ashmit Engineering has hands-on experience with CPP diagnostics, hydraulic pitch control repair, bridge telegraph interface calibration and propulsion control system retrofits for commercial vessels.
We work with a wide range of OEM propulsion control architectures and provide vendor-neutral upgrades where original equipment is obsolete or unsupported. Our engineers understand the full signal chain — from bridge demand lever through the electronic pitch controller to the hydraulic servo unit — and can resolve faults at any point.
Engine control system support covers main engine control, shaft generator interfaces, load sharing and integrated power management systems (IPMS/PMS).
CPP Engineering GuideTesting, FAT/SAT & Commissioning
Every system we deliver is subjected to structured acceptance testing before handover. For new-build and major upgrade projects, we provide Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at our premises or at the OEM's facility, followed by Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and integrated commissioning aboard the vessel.
Test protocols include loop checks, signal tracing, functional tests, interlock verification and load testing. All test records, certificates and as-built documentation are issued to the vessel owner and, where applicable, to the classification society surveyor. We accommodate witness testing by DNV, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and other class bodies.
Panel Design, CAD & System Modelling
Our engineering design capability covers the full scope from concept to fabrication-ready documentation. We produce CAD panel layouts, wiring schematics, cable schedules, terminal schedules and I/O lists. 2D and 3D modelling is available for complex panel assemblies and control room designs.
Tailored control systems, custom-built panels, bespoke HMI screens and SCADA architectures are designed and built to your vessel's exact specification. All deliverables are produced to IEC, classification society and client drawing standards, and are suitable for inclusion in the vessel's technical file.
What Makes Us Different
Marine engineering clients need engineers who understand the vessel environment — the constraints of working at sea, the urgency of breakdown situations, and the scrutiny of class society requirements. Here is why operators choose us.
